President, Mayor Troy Pickard

Mayor Pickard has been involved in Local Government since 2001 at the City of Stirling, as a Councillor and Deputy Mayor, and then the City of Joondalup where he has been Mayor since 2006. To complement his Business Degree in marketing at ECU, Mayor Pickard completed his Masters Degree at UWA in 2006.
He has received a number of decorations and awards throughout his career including a Distinguished Service Award from WALGA in 2005 and a 40 Under 40 Award in 2002 and 2007. Mayor Pickard was elected WALGA Deputy President in 2007 and President in 2010.

Deputy President, Cr Steve Martin

Cr  Martin has been involved in Local Government since being elected to the Wickepin Shire in 2001. He has served as Wickepin Shire President since 2005. Cr Martin is also involved in various community organisations and serves as a Justice of the Peace. He is a partner in a family farming business and has 10 years experience in the media. Cr Martin was elected to the WALGA State Council in 2007 and to the position of Deputy President in 2010.

Chief Executive Officer, Ricky Burges

Ms Burges has held the positions of Director General of the Ministry for Culture and the Arts, CEO of Perth Zoo, and a Director of Human Resources at the WA Tourism Commission. She was President of the Australian Institute of Management and was the Western Australian Businesswoman of the Year in 1997. Ms Burges joined WALGA as CEO in 2000. She was awarded the Public Service Medal in the 2007 Queens Birthday Honours.

Deputy CEO, Wayne Scheggia

Wayne's comprehensive and diverse Local Government background includes work on both the east and west coasts and covers inner urban cities, regional centres, metropolitan growth corridors and rural communities. To complement his work experience and reinforce his professional focus on community sustainability, Wayne has completed post-graduate studies in Regional Development.
