This week the State Government introduced three Bills focusing on Climate Change and Greenhouse gas.

The Climate Change 2023 Bill provides the head of power to formalise the Governments climate change actions, including a net zero emissions by 2050 target, and requirements to develop strategies and plans to reduce emissions and enhance climate resilience.

The Petroleum Legislation Amendment Bill 2023 and the Petroleum and Geothermal Energy Safety Levies Amendment Bill 2023 were also introduced into Parliament this week.

The Bills are intended to enable the transport and storage of greenhouse gases in Western Australia, which aligns with net zero emissions ambitions within the WA Climate Policy and Greenhouse Gas Emissions Policy.
