Shelter WA, WALGA and Local Government Professionals WA are inviting Local Governments across Western Australia to contribute resources to the Local Government Homelessness Knowledge Hub.

What is the Local Government Homelessness Knowledge Hub?

Launched in 2022, the Hub is a place for Local Governments to share information and to inform evidence-based homelessness solutions that respond to local community needs.
The Hub brings together a range of resources to support and equip local government across WA to end homelessness.

This includes resource information on the drivers of homelessness, case studies, guiding documents, and examples of best practice in strategic, policy and operational responses from a range of local governments to inform local approaches to end homelessness.

Why contribute resources to the Local Government Homelessness Knowledge Hub?

The Hub is a free information sharing platform that relies on Local Governments across WA to submit their most up-to-date resources on homelessness so the hub can stay up to date and relevant.

Every resource contributed helps to share knowledge and break down silos.

Sharing your resources on the Hub is also a good opportunity to showcase your best practices and initiatives to other Local Governments across WA and other stakeholders in the housing and homelessness sectors.

What kinds of resources can be contributed?

Local Government resources you can share include:

  • Homelessness policies, plans and strategies
  • Planning strategies or policies that are relevant to ending homelessness
  • Volunteer service policies relevant to homelessness
  • Support services policies, plans and strategies
  • Staff protocols or operational guides for assisting people experiencing homelessness
  • Case studies demonstrating advocacy for homelessness initiatives
  • Case studies demonstrating best practice responses to emerging issues relevant to homelessness
  • Case studies showing lessons learnt in preventing or responding to homelessness
  • Examples of advocacy work undertaken by local governments to end homelessness, including submissions made to the State or Federal governments relating to homelessness

How to submit resources?

  • To contribute your homelessness resources to the Hub, simply follow this link: https://www.lghomelessnesshub.com.au/contribute/
  • Once received, the resource will then be reviewed by the Hub management team and once approved, uploaded to the resources section of the Hub
